Things that can possibly be done.
Building stuff?
Yes I like to think building stuff, is possible, like extra catapults. But be realistic, you need the resources. If your not anywhere near a forest, where are you going to get the extra wood to build the weapon? So if you send engineers to collect wood, in a forest clearly miles away from your position, then don’t expect to have a weapon built anytime in the first 4 or 5 turns. Keep in mind, these things are makeshift, so easily destroyed and you don’t get to keep them after the battle. If your main catapult is destroyed and a new one is built from scratch, well then after the battle you won’t have a catapult. Where do you get the ropes and nails for such a thing you may wonder. Well its not unusual for artisans such as fletchers, blacksmiths and rope makers to follow a army. Afterall they wish to make a buck off you.
Ploys?
Well Use your imagination, common moves are pits, rock slides, fire traps. Those moves require before hand PM’s to Battle Moderators. If its unique, the battle Moderator will PM the top Administrator to validate it, if the current Battle Moderator is unsure. Also you must indicate in some way, that something strange or unusual movement in a area of the ploy.
Formation Tactics?
Formation Tactics are highly encouraged, it not only helps the story, but can help determine damage to self or enemy.
Example: If you say you charged the enemy with your army that consisted of horse, pole and conscripts, with out formation info. The battle Moderator assumes you rushed with a ragtag organized army with poles, conscripts, and horse running in a mixed group. While the enemy details that their horse attacks your flanks, the Polemen in the center in spearwall formation with the conscripts behind and flanking the spear wall. Well the ragtag army is going to suffer heavy losses while the organized army will suffer minimum.
Battle Calculations
What if Both Armies are Organized?
Well the collision of the armies the Battle Moderator will either calculate the damage by stats of the unit, numbers, and formation.
What If The Armies are Virtually Same?
Well the damage will be roughly equal depending on formation. That there lies a problem, Biasness was/is/will be, a issue that will not go away for a (Battle Moderator) judges by his/her opinion. This opinion will not always be readily accepted opinion, be patient and discuss it with the current battle moderator, if agreement cannot be reached, the Current Battle Moderator will discuss the issue with the Head Administrator and another Battle Moderator or Administrator to get a unanimous agreement. The players must then accept the agreed battle calculation.
Please remember most people do not do it on purpose, so be patient and calm.
